Although the saturated, electric palette of Japan at night is utterly addictive, I found shooting in the day just as captivating. To Western eyes it can seem that every detail of the Japanese cityscape is carefully considered and crafted. It is true that everything is kept immaculately clean and tidy, with almost no vandalism or graffiti. Exploring Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, I quickly became enamoured with every detail of the urban aesthetic, from the architecture to the cars, and of course, the typography.
